"Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye."
-H. Jackson Brown, Jr
Love is what makes the world go round! (And so do many other factors but still!)
"Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye." In other words, this quote means that sometimes, love isn't so obvious. Sometimes you just can't see it, but your heart feels it. Or maybe it's a gut feeling. Always trust your gut, unless if you are always wrong when you do. If that happens, never trust your gut. Love isn't something physical. It isn't something you can touch and hold, weigh and measure. It's a feeling. A very, very, very deep feeling. You know you are in love... When you're in love.
Love is what makes the world go round! (And so do many other factors but still!)

For those of you who may ask, "How was the trip?" IT WAS AWESOME. Lots of happy memories for me.
Well, to start off, we went to Gettysburg. We went to the museum, saw a TON of interesting artifacts, and watched a short movie on the Civil War. RIP to those who have died trying to make this country, the proud USA, a better place. After that, we went to the Sheraton Hotel for Hershey. After watching a bit of TV and just messing around, my friends and I started getting ready for this dinner dance that we had. One thing that I will always remember - sometimes, hair curlers just don't want to cooperate! While my friends were freaking out over their makeup and hair not being finished, I just relaxed and did a few things to my image. It was quite funny watching them freak out over some things... Anyways, after all... That... Was done, we went to the dinner dance... Or tried to at least. We actually just went in a huge circle, ended back up in the hotel room, then went to the first floor, realizing that the dinner dance was going on at the third floor, found an elevator, went upstairs, and then showed up fashionably late... Ish. There were a bit of difficulties trying to find where to sit, but everyone managed. The whole eighth grade ate their dinner, the staff cleared the dance floor, and music blared through the air. I swear. I'm half deaf still. My friends were doing really funky dances, and they pulled me along. That was a bit embarrassing... I mean, I kind of shy. Just kind of. To every night, there's got to be romance, right? Well, I'm just going to say... You know what, I'm not going to keep you all in the dark. I got my first kiss! <3 <3 <3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *girly squeal* I'm still trying to get over it. Okay. I have to calm down. Deep breaths. Inhale... Exhale... Okay. I'm all good now, I think... Nope. My heart's still fluttering. I'll get on with this now... After this wonderful moment, this person who shall not be named asked me to dance, and yep, I embarrassed myself even more, but who cares! I was having fun! Deal with it judgy people! But all good things come to an end. Once it was 10:45, everyone dispersed to find their chaperons who would lead them back to their rooms to "sleep". About that... In the rooms, my friends and I did our nightly routines, watched TV, played Never Have I Ever (I won both times... A little saddening), played FMK (not spelling that out), ate a lot of food, and eventually, at 2:00-ish, we all fell asleep. I got 2 hours of sleep. I woke at 4, and I thought it was pretty dark out, so I looked at the time and I went, "IT'S ONLY FOUR IN THE MORNING?!?!?!!" in my head. I wasn't able to fall asleep, so I just kind of lied there. Staring at the ceiling. Watching the time go by. It was quite boring. Then, FINALLY, at around 6:30, some one woke up, and she started talking to me. We kind of sort of woke the whole room up like that. After much groaning about mornings, we all did our morning routines, ate some more, talked some more, sang the whole Frozen soundtrack, and packed up all of our belongings (we trashed the hotel room... Oops). Our chaperon showed up a bit late, and we were, yet again, late to another meal, trying to find seats. Breakfast was quiet. Nothing much happened. Then we boarded the buses to go to HERSHEY PARK! I went with a few different friends (all of them being guys). I learned that some people just aren't made to read maps... In other words, we ran around the park trying to find the entrance to this one roller coaster... And to our luck, it was closed. Anyways, we made our way around the park, going on this and that, having fun and being, well, free. For lunch, I only had a Dippin' Dots, but hey! I wasn't that hungry. A few minutes after we sat down to eat, the clouds rolled in and it POURED. We all finished our lunches, but we couldn't really move because of the rain. The guys stole the umbrella, and they didn't want to get wet. I, being all brave, was the first person to go out into the rain to throw my trash out. And everyone handed their trash to me so they didn't have to go out into the rain... I'm telling you peeps, chivalry is dead! I got drenched, but rain is rain, and I enjoyed it very much. Sorry. I love the worst kinds of weather. All of the guys (but one) came out from under the umbrella after they saw that rain can't really hurt. They started sliding around, and me, being the responsible one, told them to stop. They didn't stop (one of them fell down and scraped his knee after much sliding...). Oh well. Guys will be guys. The rain finally stopped, and my group went over to this awesome roller coaster... To find that it was closed, and there was going to be a wait. Of course. We waited and waited. We waited for about an hour! And then the person says that there was an hour's more of waiting, and so we decided that the wait just wasn't worth it. Though, we did go on a different ride. One of those rides where you're on sort of a swing, and they swing you around really quickly (we all crashed into each other...). And we went on a little teacup ride... And got weird stares from the people running that ride... Yeah... Our group kind of melted away in the end, but hey, I was alone (ish, we were in Hershey Park, so you can't really be alone there) with my special someone! We went to the Kissing Tower by the way. You all could guess what happened. We went on a few more rides, then we went to the Chocolate World. It was pretty cool. We watched how chocolate was made, and listened to singing cows. I ate ice cream for dinner. After all this fun, we went back onto the bus, and drove back home. I still went ice skating after all of this. Yes, I was exhausted, but my soft, warm bed's always there for me! As you may have noticed, I have changed quite a few things on this website. Who likes it?
Tomorrow and on Friday, I will be gone because...
I'M GOING TO GETTYSBURG AND HERSHEY PARK! I will not be able to post anything for the next three days. I will post on Sunday though! "Ain't It Fun"
Yes, it is fun, whatever "it" is. Oh wait, "it" is growing up! This song means that you may be at the "top of the food chain" and be all cool while you are a child, but when you "go out into the real world" with no one at your back, "don't go crying to your mama" because it will be hard! Most children think that the adults have lives with SO many privileges, but they don't realize how difficult their parents' lives actually are. Also, the "rebels" think that they don't have to listen to anyone, and they like being "free to do what they want"... Until they realize that with freedom, there is a price. Working, receiving money to support yourself, and supporting a possible family... That is what adulthood is about. To those popular people who think that you can do WHATEVER you want, whether it's bullying (burning bridges) or failing school (almost guaranteeing a poor future), watch out. You may have all the fun in the world by doing these things right now, but when you reach adulthood, ultimately, popularity doesn't help you find an income of money. Neither will your looks help you when you are begging on the streets, because "you're not the big fish in the pond no more. You are what they're feeding on." When no one's at your back, what are you going to do? Ask your "so many friends" for help? What if your "friends" aren't in the area where you are? What if they aren't even your friends? The world won't always assist you when you need it to, like those people that you bullied (that are probably quite successful right now) when you, well, bullied them. Because "if it don't hurt now then just wait, just wait a while" and when it does hurt, it's going to hurt A LOT. Life is easy when you're pulling the strings on your tiny stage, but when you enter the big stage of life, nothing will be easy, because other people are pulling the strings. Earth to you popular people who think that money grows on trees and that life as an adult will be easy; there are 7 billion, and counting, more people in the world, and they won't orbit around your life to help just you. You have to take responsibility for what you do, and don't expect anyone else to help you while you're at it. Those bridges you burned? Fix them. That lack of education? Learn what you can while you still could change your fate. Ain't It Fun? I have decided to go back to talking about literature. on Monday. I mean, who doesn't love literacy? (<- that was a rhetorical question by the way)
Poems. That is what I want to talk about. And so I shall. What are poems? A bunch of rhyming words? Just another type of writing that no one cares about? No. They aren't. And unless if I'm no one, then people care about poetry. Yes, world, I love poetry. Check out my "Howls" section if you didn't know that before. You know that saying that "eyes are the windows to the soul"? I think that this applies to poems too. I honestly vent through poetry, and usually, those pieces turn out pretty well, though a few angry scratches sometimes make that piece undecipherable. Regardless, poems are like open doors. Everyone has a mask - that is like the exterior of a house. When someone writes a poem, they unlock the main door to the house to let others explore the inside. Where the true feelings are. Each word of the poem is another piece of furniture, another wall, another decoration. Some people think that poems are stupid. Are they? Are they a bunch of "pointless", "useless", "time-wasting" and "rhyming" words pasted together? No, they are not. In fact they are the opposite. Now, I don't want to write out of ideas and have blogger's block again, so to give you some insight on next week, I will be discussing why poems are absolutely amazing next Monday. Please comment what you think I should write about for "literacy day"! I went on this track and field meet on Saturday under the blazing hot sun, and I got SUNBURN! It is absolutely horrible right now, and I am aching at the parts where my skin is pink. Though, I am quite proud of that day though. I beat all of my personal bests so far. For running, my record for my 100 is now 14.94 seconds, and my record for my 200 is now 32 seconds flat. Now, I still see a lot of room for improvement for both, and I will work hard to beat these records. For throwing, my record is 70.11 feet, which converts to about 21.37 meters. Yes, there is still room for improvement for that too (I still CANNOT get my cross steps correct). My sunburn is like a proud battle scar that, although hurts a lot, reminds me of my accomplishments.
"One loyal friend is worth a ten thousand relatives." I can relate. I think that this means that you basically are FORCED TO love your direct and extended family. But you get to pick and choose who your friends are. If you have one true friend, it is a true bond because you made it yourself, with no one forcing you to do anything.
I saw this advice in my home ec class - What is the best vitamin to make more friends? - B1 So go and make more friends! I think I may be changing today's (Friday's) topic to something different. Something such as...
A free day! Where I can talk about WHATEVER comes to mind, or whatever you readers comment. Today I will be talking about field trips! Next week, the eighth grade in my school will be going on a trip to Hershey Park. I CANNOT wait. But I have to. I think that there should be more field trips. Yes, they are somewhat expensive sometimes, but the fact that I normally learn more from an educational field trip than a boring day of school should really mean something. In fact, I remember a fact that I learned from this field trip a long time ago, just because I was interacting (and because we learned about it in school, but I mean, still, the point is that I remember). Field trips engage people more and it makes more of an impact on people. Although, if there were more field trips, each one would not be as memorable, but learning would definitely be easier. Field trips somehow randomly slip facts into your head that you just remember for a long time. They're magical! So that's it for today. Now I'm off to do more homework... Sorry I didn't post yesterday!
For today, or yesterday rather, I will talk about walking. Yes, walking. You know when you're running and you just want to stop and walk for 5 seconds? You know, when your muscles are aching and your breathing isn't catching up to your pace, and you are just sweating away? Yeah, that moment. So, I believe that there is nothing wrong with walking. Yes, it slows you down, but it isn't worth anything to injure yourself, as I have said many times before. If you are past your limit, you should definitely give it a rest. Also, people believe that walking isn't an exercise. But I believe that it is. It is easier on your muscles, but if you walk too much, it is also bad for you. You may not even realize it, the strain and everything, but it is always there. So, walking is definitely "okay" to do, and it is most definitely a sport. The SOTW is...
"Titanium" by Sia! Well, this song's all about staying strong no matter what happens, because, well, you are titanium! I think that this song is to those people who are bullied in some way, because the lyrics say that "all your bullets ricochet," or that all of the mean things that other people say just bounce off of you. Also, Sia has a skin condition, and people always are critical about that, so she may have written this song for those mean bullies who comment about her appearance negatively. Honestly, I love this song. If I ever feel like giving up on something, or if something's just up with my mood and I'm very negative that day, I just hum this song and I feel better. Works like magic. If you ever do oil painting, you'll realize that the right amount of oil always creates the best oil. I have a question, because I'm currently working on a piece and I cannot cover up this one section. How much oil do you use to paint over another section that has been already painted?
"I just get bored easily. As I'm sure other people do too." Pretty self explanatory!
You know, I sometimes think that if the world only had one language, what would it be?
I think it would be English because many people are already learning it and many people already speak it. What do you think it would be? You know how people always say, "Keep your back straight!" and "Stop slouching!"? Well, you should listen.
Sports are all about form too. For throwing something, if you have good form that object could go further or straighter versus if you had bad form. If you were running with bad form, you would be slower and have worse endurance than if you were running with your head held high and your arms pumping. Good form could also help prevent soreness. Now, I know it could use up more of your energy when you remind yourself to keep your form. It's tiring. I know. But once you get into the habit of keeping that form, you would improve greatly. For sprints, you should keep yourself straight, and the only things that aren't straight are your legs, which should be bent at 90 degrees max. Your arms should be chopping the air as fast as possible. They are just as important as your legs. The faster your arms move, the faster your legs go, so MOVE THOSE ARMS! For long distance running, you should also mind your arms. Lean forwards a little bit to kind of "catch yourself" while running. Also, you should keep your strides long and "glide" over the ground. This would improve your speed, and it would use less energy. Your feet should not be making much noise on the ground. Don't make your movements jerky - make smooth motions and be "one well oiled machine". Distance running is harder on your knees, ankles, and hips than most sports, so to help prevent great impacts, land on your heels, then roll onto the balls of your feet, then to your toes and push off. For throwing, you should wind up a teeny bit, but don't "fight yourself". Don't put your arm directly behind your head. That makes it more difficult to throw. You should give it your all when you throw, and kind of turn into the throw. For jumping (to spike or shoot, etc.), you should start in a partial squat position, tense your muscles, then jump straight up. Don't kick your legs back, like most people do. It's dangerous (it increases your chances of falling and injuring yourself) to do so, and it uses more energy. When you land, land on your tippy toes, then on the balls of your feet, then roll down to your heels. This prevents a jarring impact which is bad on your knees, ankles, and hips, like in running distance. If you're batting in baseball, softball, etc., sorry, but I can't help you. I know how to hit the ball and run, the strikes, outs, fouls, and such, but that's about it. I know nothing about form in baseball. And there you go! Now keep your posture, person reading this blog! If there are any sports that you want to improve your form on, but don't know how, please comment! Anyone know that song, "Distance" by Christina Perri? Well, one of my friends knew that song and she had no clue what the point of it was. If you don't know the song, listen to it. It's quite short, but I personally like it.
Anyways, I think that it's about this person who wants to fall in love with another person, but there's something stopping them. Maybe it's a parent issue. Maybe it's because they think that they're already good friends and that if they fall in love and it doesn't work out, everything would be ruined. Maybe it's because that other person already has a special someone... Maybe that other person's just flat out scared to ask. No one really knows. I'd say "JUST DO IT!" to the other person who might be falling in love with person #1. Just ask them! Live now, not in the future, because you might not have one. Don't chicken out on things and regret your actions later in life. Who knows? Maybe 30 years from now, you'll be looking back in your yearbook and you see that person's face and you just get very sad... I say, "Don't keep your distance if it's love!" Well, shading can be quite annoying, if you know what I mean. For example, you just sketched out this beautiful... Object. Then you start shading it. But it isn't smooth and some parts don't blend in! Yep. I know. Happens all the time to me. Then you have to erase that WHOLE section and start over just because you made a little error. Oh the pain and beauty of art.
You can prevent this from happening though. Use higher quality pencils, not just everyday writing or mechanical pencils. No, instead, use pencils that are specially designed for art. You should also gently add more shades using the tip of your pencil. That will generally smooth everything out. Don't press hard and make your pencil marks shiny. The end result would not look well and the paper would be dented. You don't want that to happen. If you do make a little mistake, there is a chance that you don't have to erase EVERYTHING. You know those little erasers that are gray and can be smushed and such? Yeah, the ones that everyone plays in art class? Just gently dab that over the area with the mistake and you're usually good to go. Just don't press too hard! Have fun shading in that... Object! "Anyone who thinks that they are too small to make a difference has never tried to fall asleep with a mosquito in the room." So, yeah. Everyone could make a difference. Pretty self explanatory. And I chose this quote for this week because the mosquitoes have been feasting off of me this weekend. It's not very fun.
How many ways do you know how to say "hello" (in different languages)?
I know quite a few. Comment what you know! Now, I hope that anyone who reads this blog realizes that your should always continue with sports, and to not give up. But what about when you're actually playing the sport and you have next to no energy left and your mouth is parch and your muscles are sore, and all that jazz? Well, honestly, not much.
As I've mentioned earlier, playing a sport is as much of a mental strain as a physical strain. You have to tell yourself and force yourself to go that extra distance and to just, I don't know, hit the ball a little harder. I know that everything hurts. I know that you get all out of breath. I know that sometimes you just feel like just sitting down and drinking water for about a week, but you can't. You have to push yourself. Yesterday, I swear that my coach wanted to murder me with these laps. We had to run back and forth, and honestly, I can't run distance well, even though I do cross country. I literally felt like sitting in the middle of where we were running and just wait for someone to drag my tired body away. But that wasn't what I did. No. Instead, I told myself that I was not going to cheat myself out of this exercise, that this is for the better, that I would get my rest and water later. So I kept going. I wasn't able to go very fast. My muscles, especially my stubborn hamstring that always tightens, just didn't want to even move at that moment, but I made them move. I still finished up. When I did finish I wasn't able to distinguish between my sweat (hard work) and the rain... Yes, I pushed myself. So, if I can do it, so can you. You just have to think about the rewards that you would get later. You just need to think that your water, your breath, your rest, is all waiting for you in the end. You just have to know that you WILL finish. Okay. Inspiring speech for the day. Jeez, that was a lot of optimism. Soak it in, peeps! It doesn't happen often! And like Dory from Finding Nemo said... Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming! You can replace the "swimming" part with the sport you do. Like running. Or you could just say... Just keep going, just keep going... So there's that big song that everyone's singing, you know, Let it Go? Well, what does it mean?
It means that there isn't a care in the world for this person. They just do what they want when they want because they aren't trapped by a secret or a responsibility. In Elsa's case, her responsibility was being queen and her secret was the ice powers. It also means that you can start fresh and new and turn over a new leaf. You can "turn away and slam the door" to your past. So, just LET IT GO! I'm 14 now! I'm older, like, physically, but mentally, still kind of... Young... Yeah.
Well, IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! :D I have decided to change the order of things.
So, the new "schedule" is........ Sunday - Quote of the week Monday - Art Tuesday - Piece up on "Howls" Wednesday - Songs Thursday - Athletics Friday - Language Saturday - (break) And of course, if any wacky/interesting ideas/news pops up, I will share. So, there are all these textures in art, right? Most of the time you can't touch the textures, but just with your eyes, you can see that some parts are supposed to be smooth and some are rough, etc. How do people do that (and I'm only talking about painting)?
Well, with a flick of the brush, your painting could change. For strand-like materials, like hair or grass, on watercolor and similar types of painting, I just kind of paint when the hairs on my brush are a little separated. For oil painting, I just draw some strands, and I change the tones around to make it seem like there are more "strands" than there actually are. For "smooth surfaces", I blend everything together. If you don't know how to blend paints together, here's how. 1. You find the color that you want to make. 2. Classify it as one of the primary, secondary, or tertiary colors (red, red-orange, orange, yellow-orange, yellow, yellow-green, green, blue-green, blue, indigo, purple). 3. Decide if your color is darker or lighter than the paints you have - if its darker, add a tiny bit of the complementary color, brown, or black. If it's lighter, add white, or use a lighter color. 4. Mix your tint/shade with your primary/secondary/tertiary color. Make sure that your paint is not just a bunch of different colored spirals. You should not be able to pick out a color change between one side of the paint from the other, if that makes any sense. 5. Apply your color to your canvas, and use even strokes. Go over the area of that color with that paint about 2-3 times. It usually works. 6. If you want to blend that color into another color, just add that other color into your paint (unless if it's complementary. In that case, the "middle tone" would be brown that slowly fades to the other color). Sometimes, I have to do layers upon layers upon layers for oil painting to get the texture right. In those cases, I don't really worry about one spot more than the next, because if you just focus on one spot, it might turn out that there is another layer on that area, which would be horrible because then you would have to redo everything. You should also plan out the order of your layers so this doesn't happen. Another thing for textures is roughness. For roughness, I just kind of "dab" my color onto the canvas and put a bunch of its tints and shades around it. That's it, FOR NOW! And have fun drawing your textures!
