Holden Caulfield, a rich junior in high school, has failed out of yet another school, Pencey Prep. This was about the fourth school that he had failed out of. It was Saturday night, and he didn't want to go home earlier than Wednesday, or his parents would find out about his situation. He knew that they would be pretty upset. So how would Holden spend his four days? He decided to roam around New York. Because, why not? After hastily packing up and counting his money, he left Pencey Prep. On this journey, Holden reminisces about his younger brother, Allie (who died of leukemia three years ago), his older brother, D. B. (who's off in Hollywood making movies), his little sister, Phoebe (a supposedly a brilliant child), his past relationships and crushes, Sally and Jane (that he just can't stop thinking about), and miscellaneous past events, such as the death of James Castle. He thinks about sex... A lot. He tells his readers that the only reason that he hasn't done it is because he actually stops when girls tell him to. He smokes, drinks, lies, and curses left and right. He loses most of his money, and things start snowballing downhill for him. Why is there a horse on the cover? How does Holden make it out of this mess? Read The Catcher in the Rye to find out. |

I have decided to make a "Book Review" section. I may post here oftenly, or I may not. I'll just see where this goes. If there are any books that you want me to give a review of, don't be afraid to comment on what I should do next!
