As promised last week, I will be talking about why poems are awesome.
Yep. Poems are awesome.
Is it that hard to believe?
Poems help you release your emotions. Personally, I find it easier to represent myself with poems instead of essays and the like. When you're upset or exceptionally positive, poems capture your how you feel. It's like a memory is encased into the poem if you write it at a certain time or event. You not only remember the event, you remember the actual things running through your head, the feelings bursting through your veins, your surroundings, and whatever else you incorporate into your poems.
They are also interesting to read. If you just loose yourself in the poem, you may actually feel what the author felt, what the author wanted to express. The feelings, the environment, etc. could be observed just by paying attention to the details of the poem. How do you do this? It's simple. You read each line, slowly, noticing the figures of speech, the adjectives, nouns, verbs, and trying to find the tone of the poem. Sometimes these factors are subtle. Sometimes they are obvious. You just have to look.
Oftentimes, you would have to read a poem multiple times to find all of the meanings and details of the poem. But hey, it isn't that torturous! You may actually enjoy it!
And poems are still awesome.
Go read one and practice what I just taught you! I have quite a few in the "Howls" section of my blog (I haven't posted any new poems - the new ones will be in the poems section).
